Lefkas is an island connected to the mainland via a small bridge. The connection of this island with the national roadway network of Greece makes it easily accessible wherever you are, by car from Athens, by Ferry through the nearby port of Igumenitsa or by plane through the nearby airports of Corfu, Kefalonia or Preveza (Aktion Airport is only 20 mins driving distance to Lefkas).

Moreover because of its location, Lefkas (Lefkada) is also the best place to start discovering the Ionian Islands while sailing in the opal waters of the Ionian Sea. The east section of the Ionian Sea, were Lefkas is also located, is the one that has the most islands, and the most beautiful places to visit.
World famous islands such as Kefalonia, Ithaca, and Skorpios – formerly owned by Aristotle Onassis-, Meganissi, and Zakynthos are only a few miles away from Lefkas (Lefkada).

Because of the small distance between the islands the whole East section of the Ionian Sea is weather protected and sunny, most days of the year, but also is windy enough to enjoy sailing!

Islands, you must moor:

The Ionian Islands are a group of islands in Greece. They are traditionally called the Heptanese (Seven islands) but there are plenty of virgin and isolated islands you must visit whille you sail from Lefkas at Ionian sea.

Kefalonia

Kefalonia is located on the West coast of Greece only 3,5 hours of sailing from Lefkas, and has a mild climate along with excellent beaches. Even if the island of Kefalonia is worldfamous, until now has escaped mass tourism, keeping its water crystal and clear. The island has many wonderful bays and inlets which are ideal for moor and accesible only with a sailing yacht. The northern rocky coastline has small and clean, pebble beaches whilst those on the southern shores are long and sandy.

Ithaca

Ithaca lies east of the northwest coast of Cephalonia, from which it is separated by the Strait of Ithaca.Ithaca has one of the biggest natural ports in Europe and the whole island is surounded by small, amazing bays. Thats the reason why Ithaca is one of the favorite islands of all sailors from the ancient years. You can sail to Ithaca, by chartering a yacht from Lefkas or Corfu.

Meganisi

Meganisi is a small traditional island which is placed in the south east side of Lefkas (Lefkada), next to the famous Scorpios, the island of Aristotelis Onasis. The opal waters of Ionian Sea, the amazing green landscapes, the breathtaking view and the harbours with the traditional Greek fish-taverns, create a unique atmosphere. Meganisi has plenty of beaches like Aghios Ioannis, Spillia, Pasoumaki, Ambelakia, Faros, Limonari, Elia, Loutrolimni and Bereta but also caves like the famous Papanikolis cave, that are accesible only with a sailing yacht.

Kastos

Kastos is a small , virgin little island covered in olive trees and at which dozens of boats sailing over the Ionian Sea moor safely each day. It is also an old Fisherman Harbour where you can fish by yourself or even taste great fresh fish at its taverns. The island’s west coast is rugged, whilst the east coast has many small beaches, which can be accessed from the sea with sailing yachts.

Atokos

Atokos is a small island in the Ionian Sea and is one of the most westerly and perhaps remotest of the Ionian Islands. Having no residents and no streets, its beautifull beaches with the white rocks are accesible only by a yacht

Zakynthos (Zante)

Zakynthos or Zante is one of the most famous islands of Ionian Sea. Navagio (shipwreck) is only one of the famous beaches of Zakynthos that has been voted as one of the best beaches of the world. Zakynthos has different types of beaches, there are sandy beaches iwhere the waters are deep blue and also there are many beaches covered with white, rugged cliffs and opal waters.
